The Brief
A retired homeowner wanted to invest in a comprehensive energy solution to reduce his environmental impact, become more independent from the grid, and secure predictable energy costs for the future. The project needed to include solar power, battery storage, and an electric vehicle (EV) charger, all while ensuring the installation was aesthetically pleasing and integrated seamlessly with the existing roof.
Your Approach
Ceiba Renewables designed and installed a fully integrated energy system tailored to the client’s goals. The core of the system is a 5.25 kWp in-roof solar array using high-performance SunPower MAX3 375W all-black panels, creating a sleek look that matches the roof slates.
During the initial site visit, our team identified and resolved structural issues with the roof rafters to ensure a safe and durable installation. To maximise energy independence, we installed two Tesla Powerwall batteries to store excess solar generation for use at night or during power cuts. Finally, a Zappi smart EV charger was integrated, allowing the client to charge his vehicle with clean energy from the sun.
The Result
The complete system is performing exceptionally well, providing the homeowner with energy independence and peace of mind. The installation successfully meets all the initial objectives. Key outcomes include:
- High Energy Generation: On sunny days, the solar PV system produces 95-97% of its expected output, effectively powering the home and charging the b
- Total Energy Independence: The combination of solar panels and two Tesla Powerwalls allows the client to store excess energy, covering his needs during the night and in the event of a grid outage.
- Sustainable Transport: The Zappi EV charger enables the client to power his electric vehicle directly from his own clean, renewable energy source.
This project highlights how an integrated system of solar PV, battery storage, and EV charging can provide homeowners with a long-lasting, reliable, and environmentally friendly energy solution. The result is a future-proof home that is almost entirely self-sufficient, protecting the owner from fluctuating energy prices.
